Who We Are

aLYSSA 
RAB

HEAD COACH

Alyssa Rab grew up in Provost AB playing volleyball at PPS and a couple seasons of club. She played at The Kings University for 5 years in the ACAC (2009-14). In those years she was awarded MVP, academic-athletic awards, and was a captain for two seasons. She also finished her last two seasons as one of the top Middle Blockers in the ACAC and the CCAA. During her 5 years she also helped coach a variety of club teams to get her coaching career a start.

After graduating in 2014, she was selected as 1 of 13 CCAA Female Apprentice Coaches under Grace Scott at TKU. During this program she earned her Level 1 and 2 coaching certifications. She also started her role as Team Trainer, developing the workout programs for the athletes; this is a role she still holds with the current TKU team today

rOBYNE pOWER

ASSISTANT COACH 

Robyne has had a passion and love for the game of volleyball for as long as she can remember. She played high school volleyball in Oshawa, Ontario, and continued her playing career at Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles for one season. Life took an unexpected turn, leading her to move to Provost 15 years ago.

For the past eight years, she has had the privilege of assistant coaching alongside Head Coach Alyssa Rab, gaining valuable experience, knowledge, and confidence in her coaching abilities. Most recently, she had the opportunity to assistant coach at the Alberta Winter Games—an incredible and memorable experience.

Volleyball has given her so much over the years: meaningful friendships, life lessons, inspiring mentors, and lasting memories. It's this impact that inspired her to give back and share her love for the sport with the youth in her community through coaching. She recognizes how much the game has evolved and feels fortunate to coach alongside a group of knowledgeable and experienced coaches. She’s excited and optimistic about another great season with EAVC.

Rebecca Petrie

HEAD COACH

Rebecca Petrie is a Speech-Language Pathologist living in Macklin, SK. She played as a middle for the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings from 2015-2020, and was a co-captain her final two years. Rebecca was recognized as a CCAA Academic All-Canadian player from 2018-2020 and was one of the top middle blockers in the league. Rebecca has been coaching volleyball athletes for 9 years, and loves helping young players develop their technical skills and enjoyment of the game.

lAUREN hECK

HEAD COACH 

Lauren was born and raised in Provost, AB. She played competitive volleyball from grade 6 all the way through high school. Following high school, she played post secondary at The King’s University Eagles for 5 years(2017-2022). She competed as an outside hitter the majority of her career. During Lauren’s years with the Eagles, they received a gold and 2 bronze medals at ACAC provincials, and a silver at CCAA Nationals. Lauren received the ACAC All Conference Outside Hitter Award, The King’s University Most Improved Player Award, The King’s University Leadership Award, The King’s University Most Valuable Player Award and The King’s University Female Athlete of the Year.

Coaching experience:

⁃ Developmental coach and advanced development coach certification

⁃ Head coach for the 2023 U18 EAVC team

⁃ Coached volleyball at Provost Public school since 2022

⁃ Head coach of Provost Public senior girls team who attended 1A provincials in 2023/24.

Lauren is now living in Provost with her husband, Nathan, and goldendoodle, Henry. Lauren teaches and coaches at Provost Public School.

Sydney Larson

ASSISTANT COACH

Sydney was born and raised in Irma, AB. She played played a variety of sports growing up including: softball, hockey, volleyball and badminton. After high school, she furthered her softball career by playing post secondary at the University of Lethbridge for 4 years(2018-2022). During her time she received the leadership award 2019 and 2020. This experience was enhanced her passion for women’s sports as she returned to coach softball in her home town.

She is now living in Provost, teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas and has coached a number of sports while being here this past year.

kAYLEE Pylypow

ASSISTANT COACH 

Kaylee Pylypow grew up in Provost playing volleyball, and is a former EAVC athlete. She has experience as an assistant coach for U18 women, senior girls and junior boys volleyball. Kaylee has also coached cross-country running and swimming.

Through her experiences within the sport of volleyball, Kaylee recognizes the following benefits of being an EAVC athlete:

• Fostering a healthy lifestyle: EAVC provides athletes with opportunities to learn about mental and physical skills training, recovery, and nutrition.

• Building relationships: attending practices, competitions, and camps provides opportunities to establish relationships with teammates and athletes throughout the province.

• Character development: EAVC provides individuals with opportunities to develop valuable traits, such as dedication, resiliency, and respect.

When she is not on the court coaching, Kaylee enjoys spending time working as an occupational therapist, participating in a variety of physical activities, and travelling with her family and friends.

Sherrilynn spencer

HEAD COACH 

Sherrilyn Spencer brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to our club. A proud Provost native and current teacher at Provost Public School, Sherrilyn has been deeply connected to volleyball since her early days as a student-athlete. She played from grades 7 through 12 at PPS, competing at provincials twice during her high school years, and continued her volleyball journey at the university level on a women’s team.

With over 20 years of coaching experience, Sherrilyn has made a lasting impact on school volleyball in the region. She has led two PPS high school teams to provincial championship tournaments, guided several BTPS junior high teams to division championships, and even coached the Zone 7 volleyball team at the Alberta Summer Games. Her coaching has always emphasized skill development, teamwork, and confidence-building in young athletes.

In recent years, Sherrilyn has experienced club volleyball from a new perspective—as a parent. Supporting her own kids through their club seasons rekindled her love for the game and deepened her appreciation for the club volleyball community. Now, she's excited to give back by returning to the court as a coach.

Sherrilyn’s coaching philosophy goes beyond the technical aspects of the game. She believes in fostering a positive, fun environment where athletes not only improve their skills but also grow as individuals. Her goal is to inspire the next generation to love volleyball as much as she does—on the court, in practice, and in life.

Jason Reinheart

ASSISTANT COACH

Jason Reinhart grew up in the Chauvin area and moved to Provost for high school, where he played volleyball at both the junior and senior high levels before pursuing a hockey career. His passion for coaching began with his own children and grew into a long-term commitment, even after they aged out of minor sports. With over 15 years of coaching experience—including 7 years in minor hockey and 8 years in fastpitch—Jason has led multiple teams to provincial championships.

He has remained active as an athlete, recently earning a bronze medal at the Men’s Fastpitch National Championship. Jason was also the head coach for the Zone 5 female fastpitch team at the 2023 Alberta Summer Games and currently serves as an assistant coach for the Team Alberta male fastpitch team heading to the 2025 Canada Summer Games.

Sports have taken him across Canada and the U.S., creating lasting friendships and valuable life experiences—something he’s passionate about passing on to young athletes. Jason is excited to bring his knowledge, energy, and commitment to fostering a positive team environment to the club.

Sydney Joyce

HEAD COACH 

Sydney Joyce grew up in Dodsland, SK playing a variety of sports from a young age. As she got older she became more passionate and involved with volleyball which she then focused her attention to. She played a high level of volleyball within Saskatchewan and later on signed with Olds College to play post secondary in the ACAC league. While competing for Olds College, she recieved "Women's Volleyball Rookie of The Year", "Overall Female Rookie of The Year", 3X CCAA National Scholar", and held a leadership position during her last season with the Broncos.

Sydney is forever grateful for the life lessons, opportunities and challenges this sport has provided over the years. She has been blessed to have numerous coaches that have left a lasting impact on her life which is why Sydney is passionate and driven to inspire and help develop the next generation of female athletes.

Maxwell 
Spencer 

STUDENT COACH

Max is a dedicated student coach who brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong work ethic to the field. Currently gaining hands-on experience by working alongside seasoned coaches, Maxwell is committed to learning the finer points of coaching while building being able to relate to the  with athletes as he also continues to play Volleyball. 

With a background as a multi-sport athlete, Maxwell understands the importance of teamwork, communication, and discipline. His passion for sports and youth development drives his involvement, and he takes pride in creating a supportive, encouraging environment for players to grow both on and off the court.

Eager to continue developing his skills, Maxwell values the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and contribute to the success of the team. His energy and fresh perspective make him a valuable part of the coaching team.
